What Biden Did This Week - Week of 9/17-9/23

Biden has been accomplishing a lot of things as President, but unfortunately the media is too busy to cover them, and his approval rating is in the tank. That’s why I’m starting this new series to help spread the word on Biden’s accomplishments, by sharing an up-to-date list of everything he has done in the past week.

This week was one of the better weeks for the Biden administration, as he accomplished many things on the foreign policy front while announcing a flurry of domestic policies on Wednesday and Thursday.

Economy

• Wednesday: Forgave an additional $37 million in fraudulent student loans

• Wednesday: Expanded Temporary Protected Status to roughly 472,000 Venezuelans, enabling them to stay longer in the US and receive work permits

• Thursday: Announced a new initiative to ban medical debt from impacting credit scores, potentially helping millions of borrowers

• Friday: Biden affirmed his support for workers by announcing he would march with UAW workers, who are on strike for a better contract, next Tuesday

Healthcare

• Tuesday: Confirmed two new federal judges to fight back against GOP attacks on personal health and freedoms

• Wednesday: Announced the return of free at-home COVID tests to combat the recent increase in cases

• Friday: Signed a bill to improve access to organ transplants

Gun Violence

• Tuesday: Announced a new and unprecedented Office of Gun Violence Prevention, to be overseen by Vice President Harris

Climate Change

• Wednesday: Announced the creation of a New-Deal style American Climate Corps

• Thursday: Announced $4.6 billion in new grants to states to implement climate action plans to cut carbon emissions

Disaster Recovery

• Thursday: Signed an executive order to increase federal assistance to East Palestine, Ohio

• Friday: Expanded disaster aid to Hawaii to help remove debris from recent wildfires

Pentagon and Foreign Policy

• Wednesday: Began review of discharges under Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell to retroactively upgrade discharge status

• Wednesday: Announced a partnership with Brazil to strengthen workers rights worldwide

• Thursday: Announced new support for Ukraine against Russia

Speeches

• Tuesday: Biden speaks at UN General Assembly, and later at the leaders’ reception.

• Tuesday: Biden after meeting with leaders of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

• Wednesday: Biden before and after meeting with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and before meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

• Thursday: Harris teleconference to press on medical debt relief

• Thursday: Biden before and after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

• Friday: Biden at Congressional Hispanic Caucus Annual Gala
